Wrong-way Accident Kills One

In Medina County, one person was left dead after a driver drove the wrong way down a one-way road. The collision injured three others.

San Antonio, TX—A fatal collision in Medina County left one person dead, after a wrong-way driver slammed into an on-coming sedan. The deadly automobile accident occurred in the northbound lane of Interstate 35, just off mile post 131, near Lytle on Saturday, January 8, 2011, as reported by MySanAntonio.com.

According to Department of Public Safety (DPS) reports, wrong-way driver, Jeffrey Tillman, 29, of Devine was traveling south in the northbound lane of I-35 in a Suzuki SX4, when he approached a Chevrolet Cavalier who was traveling north in the northbound lane. The driver of the sedan, Kelley Bittler, 35, tried to turn right to avoid the oncoming collision, but the two vehicles struck each other on their left front-ends. Hornets’ Player Loses Sister and Cousin in Crash

The New Orleans Hornets basketball player Willie Green lost both his sister and cousin in a car accident on Monday. They were declared dead after hitting a tree on the side of the road.

The sister of New Orleans Hornets basketball player Willie Green and her cousin were killed in a car accident early Monday morning after family members attended Green’s game against the Pistons in his native Detroit, the Detroit Free Press reported.

Tamara Lynette Green, 30, and her cousin, Gary Benjamin Green, 27, were declared dead at the scene after their vehicle reportedly veered off I-75 and hit a tree just before 1:00am local time.

“They went off the roadway at a high rate of speed, went airborne and hit the tree with the roof of the car,” Troy Police Lt. Robert Redmond said. “It wasn’t the road conditions; the road was fine. It was the speed. Where there’s the least amount of protection is the roof of the car.”

Man Hit By Caltrain

A pedestrian has suffered injuries after being hit by a Caltrain in Redwood City. The victim’s injuries have not been specified.

Redwood City, CA (Bay Area Injury Lawyer News)—A male pedestrian suffered unspecified injuries after being run over by a Caltrain in Redwood City, a suburb on the San Francisco Peninsula. The injurious pedestrian-train accident happened around 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, November 9, 2010, as reported by the Mercury News. While the victim’s identity and condition were not released, nine people lost their lives on Caltrain tracks since the beginning of this year. Seasoned San Francisco injury attorney Mary Alexander also noted, “In 2006, pedestrians accounted for 3 percent of the 42,000 deaths and 2.6 million injuries due to motor vehicle accidents. In all, 4,784 people who lost their lives on the road weren’t even in a vehicle, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.”
